go light your world

you may be familiar with the song Chris Rice sings, called "Go light your World". It is a great song. I love the words.

it talks about there being a candle in every soul. Some are brightly burning, and some are dark and cold. It says to run to the darkness, and to seek out the helpless, confused, and torn. Hold out your candle for all to see it. Take you candle and light the world.

I think there are people who are overcome with ''peer preasure", are are afraid to light their candle.

We are called as God's children, to light our world. To be a witness.

I think it is hard keeping a good balance of being a witness, but not coming across as judgemental.

In the book "Do Hard Things", it discusses this topic. How do you handle a situation when you see other people do/say something that might not be necessarily be the best choice of actions/words. Especially Christians.

I think there is a fine line of reflecting the love of Christ, but not being judgemental and still showing the love of Christ. Where is that line drawn?

I have never been in a major situation that would make me feel like I might have to say something.

But other people are. How do they handle it?

Here are some of the verses that are good to apply to your words when it comes time for you to say something.

Love~

love is think is one of the characteristic qualities that you have to have in order to be a witness, and stand for God.

In Cor. 13 it says "Love does not behave rudely" and "Love suffers long and is kind."

Light~

"You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden."

"Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven."

Judging~

"Judge not, that you be not judged."

"Do not judge according to appearance, but judge with righteous judgment."

When is the time to say something? And when that time comes, what do you say?

so what is your opinion on this subject? I would love to get your comments, and hear what you think..
